Steering pulls hard to the left.

I have a 71 Nova and I took it out a couple weeks ago. Well the steering felt very loose (really easy to turn) and it pulled slightly to the left while driving but when I hit the brakes it yanked hard to the right (guess it's been this way for a while since my girl friends father sold it to me, he had same issue) . I took it out again this weekend for the normal ride around the block but this time the car was pulling very hard to the right, I pretty much had to keep the wheel turned 180 degrees to the right to keep it going straight. I also noticed the when I braked it no longer pulled to the right. One other thing when I turn to the right the blinkers will turn off but when I turn left the blinkers don't turn off any more like they used to and I have to switch the lever to turn them off manually. At first I thought it was just a wheel alignment but after this weekend I am not so sure that's what it is. My 2 1/2 year old boy will be very crabby with me if I don't give him a ride in "his" blue car this weekend. So trying to get it safe to give him his weekend ride. Any hep will be greatly appreciated. Thank you..

I also forgot to mention last year I had a new power brake booster installed and had the lines bleed so not sure if it is brake related as I would think the mechanic might of noticed if the caliper was sticking, but I could be wrong. The man said the brakes looked great and whoever did them did a nice job, so sounded like he inspected them.

Thanks for the reply Dave. Would http://www.classicindustries.com/nova/parts/n45336.html that front end rebuild kit be good for it if not what would you suggest? Also since I am rebuilding the front end should I replace the shocks and coil springs just to have it completely done? If so what do you recommend? It's not going to the track, well at least no time soon maybe way down the road when my son is older so just something decent for driving around the block and car shows. It's got a 400 sbc motor in it. Thanks again.

I would look at the Global West rebuild kit as they use American made Moog front end parts that were the same factory OEM parts used to build it originally. They have several levels of performance to choose from six banger stock to autocross ready one and an eighth inch front sway bar with all plastic bushings.

Personally I replace everything with new parts when I get a used car that way I know the condition of the front end. Timken wheel bearings and Moog front end parts with Bendix brakes and Monroe shocks are what the factory used to build the car originally. (the spiral wound grey Monroe shocks where really cheap ones even by 1970 standards and didn't last long).
