I am trying to determine what gear ratio to run in my '70 NOVA. Can any one tell me the largest size tire that will fit and the rim offset necessary? I'm looking to fit 27-28 inch tires.

You can run a 15 x 8 rim with a 28 x 10.5 x 15 M/T ET Drag or a 28 x 12.5 x 15 ET Street, as both measure about 28" diameter x 10" wide. You'll need to roll the outer lip and "clearance" the inner wheelhouse to fit em. Trust me that I don't think you'll want to try much bigger diameter than that, as I've seen mine on the dyno at 130 mph and the tires get close as they grow!

I've run the 28 x 11.5 x 15 Et Street and they work good (about 9" wide), check my webshots link for pictures.

How do the wheelwells in the last gen Nova's compare? I have 15x7, 15x8, 14x5,6,&7 Rally wheels (those fit no problem). I want to put in the biggest tires/wheels that will fit without scrubbing issues.

thanks for any info.

in regards to the last gen, ive got a set of 15x8's with 4 inch backspacing, 255-60-15's id say a 15x9 with the absolute perfect spacing, rolling the inner fender lip and clearancing the inside of the wheelwell would work, possibly 15x10 with a relocated shock....

I will check the backspacing on my 15x8 Corvette Rallies to see if they will work.

Any thoughts on a bigger tire on the front?
