Hi all,
A member from Team Chevelles here but also a Nova owner. I picked up a 63 Nova SS here a while ago for a song with the intention of putting it back together "one of these days". I'm not real attracted to the SS trim and would just as soon shave the body. Hell, maybe put a front clip in it, a big block and tub the rear end. Wait, it's an original SS. Is this sacrilege? Should I save a relatively pristine SS and buy a plane janer to "have my way with"?? Any thoughts?

Thanks,

Cam

I faced the same question with my SS....Just build it the way you want it. The SS in 63 is of no real extra value stock. A well built, good looking resto mod will bring more money than a completely stock SS. Not too many people are looking for a factory correct restored 63 SS.

If you have all the basic SS pieces, buckets, console, trim, guages and emblems, put it together with a small block and disc brakes. That seems to be where the best money is and the SS will bring a premium. If you have to buy that stuff, it probably isn't cost effective for resale.
If a BB with tubs and an aftermarket clip is what trips your trigger, use a sedan or plain hardtop. Personally I'm a bit tired of seeing the 62-65 hardtops stripped of all moulding and emblems. It is the chrome, stainless and aluminum that sets that model apart from the other cars.
