ok.....now the ss hood vents........

i have a straight rust free 69 nova hood with no openings for the vents.....now..when installing the hood vents....i have no idea of the demensions.....as far as the space between the both of them....and how far from the top of the hood??.seeing as how ill have to drill some holes in the hood for the vents..does anybody have any info that can help me??...thanx

I believe the rear most holes that go through the frame in the hood are actully already punched through the frame but not the outer skin yet. I think all you have to do is drill those hole though the line the hood grills up with them and mark and drill the rest of the holes....good luck:)
On most 68 hoods the holes in the bracing frame are not there. If it's a 69 you should be ok. Real SS hoods also have two additional braces spot welded to that inner frame to support the weight of the louvers. I think classic is repoping them now.
ya I have seen the brackets being repoped now. I think a couple of the different reproduction parts places sell them:)

BTW good tip about the '68 hood not having the holes punched in the frame...those darn '68's just like being difficult:rolleyes:

EDIT...I went out and looked at mine and it is not the rear most holes that go through the frame it is the front most....sorry about the misinformation...

Crap all I wanted to do here was edit my one post but it wont allow me to edit it for some reason..oh well this works..
oh cool....thanx!!...sounds easy.....those vents are not cheap...before i get a pair off ebay..for 200 bucks.....do you or anybody you know have an old set...anycondition?...thanx again
