New Best

Ran a new best last night.:) Still spinning out of the hole, but getting better. I was trying different settings again and my best 60' came from the top hole with a slight air-gap on the Cal Tracs.

I put some 1.6 Comp stamped steel rockers on and I couldn't even top my best of 106 MPH with the 36 old factory stamped steel 1.5's that I ran last week.?:(

Best run:

60' 1.789
1/8 7.983
MPH 85.50
1/4 12.610
MPH 105.47

I also broke the 7 second barrier for the first time, yipee. I have a video of the launch I will be uploading when I get a different cable.

Congratulations, always cool to go quicker.

The work never ends, now you will have to change your signature ;)
Here is the video Dave. Had to go recorder to camera, quality sucks. Looks like my brother moved the camera on launch and cut off my back wheel.:( I will get a better one next time and repost this one when I get the firewire.:)

Chris, it looks like your car moves forward about 6ft before the front-end rides and before I can see any rear suspension separation.

I have noticed studying other cars that they start to rise before they leave. Any thoughts on why mine moves first, then rises.:)

The best advice I could give you right now would be to ask your question over on DragStuff.com. I work out my racing-related issue/questions over there. John Heard (the owner of the site), races a BB nova and helped me out a lot.

Here are the new wheels and tires, just finished installed them. I dropped about 20lbs of unsprung. Fronts will be coming soon. Man I'm glad to get rid of the ugly white things. I did a little touch up over the winter on the paint also. This is about as good as its gonna get until I bite the bullet and go for the new paint job.

Nice! Looks better without that male model in the pic too :)
Well..new best, but barely.:boring: Brandon(novas4life) came out and let me run his skinny pro stars up front. Thanks again Brandon.:waving: I dropped about 60lbs unsprung total. Only got two runs in before it was called on rain.

60' 1.715
1/8 7.866
mph 86.31
1/4 12.446
mph 106.81

Kinda puzzling that my 60 and ET stayed almost identical while my MPH went up 6 tenths. I couldn't feel any spin, but the car just didn't feel like it was pulling as hard as usual. The only thing I can think is the air. It has been very muggy and humid here all week and was no better last night. It was actually sprinkling on that run. Not quite sure how the air affects times though. Well they are closed until the 23rd, so I'll have to wait until then to try again.

I think you make less HP with the hot air then you do with cooler air...

Yea, I always run quicker when it is cooler, but I was thinking maybe air density. I hear some of the quicker guys take about this sometimes. With less dense air maybe the motor isn't running as efficient, but the car is moving through it easier? Hense the faster MPH with the same ET. Something like that. I don't know.. just guessing. Time to learn more about air density.:hurray:

and the cycle of education continues:D...its a never ending task
Faster mph likely from less rolling resistance of skinny tires.

Air dentisy is usually: Every 1000 ft of DA change is about 1 to 1-1/2 tenths of et. I usually run low 11.40s in good DA (below 500 DA) and mid 11.60s in summertime (around 2500-3500 DA).

Chris, I was out watching. Sorry I didn't find you to say hello. About the time I saw you drive by, it began to rain and we left.
Good job on the bests.
I hope we get a couple of nice cool nights after the 23rd, but I suspect we won't see great conditions again till the fall. but you never know.
