Sticky tires are a must.

When I went to the track a couple of years ago in my malibu, on street tires, I smoked them to the 330'.

Then you could do cal tracs, slide-a-links or slapper bars.

Good luck
I made my own slapper bars and put them NEXT to the leaf spring. They slap on a piece of steel that I welded to the floor and not the spring. It give me the advantage of using different lengths - short ones for violent launches and longer ones for softer. A good set of externally adjustable shocks like the QA-1s are a must to control the launch.

Those slappers next to the springs are a good idea. It saves a lot of clearance issues and looks great. That would have saved me a set of Mickey Thompsons when my 'under springs' bar twisted and gouged out the tire.

Simple, yet elegant. Thanks for sharing.
