First time out this year. The car had slowed down, as I suspected. The 307 is losing some power in its very old and hard life.
The best I could manage was a 14.74 @ 93 mph. The 60 foots were absolutely atrocious, somewhere in the 2.3 range all night. I don't think I was spinning either. Oh well, I did get my reaction times down to .504, .528 and .514 after a few .6's and .7's. I went three rounds in the eliminations and put a couple of "real" drag cars back on the trailer
. Consistency and lights kill! I lost to a super pro (I think) fox body mustang that ran out the back door with a 8.48 on an 8.48 dial in. That's quarter mile times! The car was fogging a healthy dose of nitrous..... I got nervous with the freight train coming down in my rear view mirror. I broke out and lost.
The car stopped vibrating violently at the end of the track, so that's a big improvement from last year. I guess balancing the tires helped. My girlfriend got to ride in the car with me too. She was white knuckling the whole time, but she had a great time and wants to come back with me next week
.
I think the car and me are both ready for the big hammer PW 350 and 3000 converter to go in...!!!
