Hey all, I’m looking for assistance to ID an engine and trans from a friends parts collection who passed away.

any help is appreciated. I’m just not sure on what I’m seeing.

Engine reads:
Casting 3791362
8:45AM first shift casting
Date C256 - March 25th, 1966

Rear markings
H-21
S194

Front markings
174
362
G25

Transmission
Muncie M-21?
Date code: P0917 - Muncie Plant assembled on September 17th 1966
Main case casting number: 3885010
Tail housing casting number: 3857584
Side cover casting number: 3884685
27 spline output shaft
10 spline input shaft
Large bearing (64-74)
27 tooth counter shaft gear


VIN number stamp? 6S1050L0 (The 2nd to last number looks like a 1 but is different than the first 1)

There should be some numbers stamped on the block deck in front of where the passenger side head mates with the block. Can you see any numbers there?

It sure sounds like the block has been decked. Too bad because that date stamp on there would have included the original horsepower rating, 275 or 350.

Yah agreed Carl, I would like to know but the block is the same no matter which is desired to build. It certainly won't end up back in the original car. I was hoping the trans info would help. Still agood block and motor combo. Hopefully someone can use it. Thanks for you help.
