I hava 70 Nova with 40K org miles .... 3 on the tree.
What will it take to make a factory looking install for the floor shifter when I swap in my new muncie? Will a muncie shifter from a 68 camaro work ( and look correct)?? Bench seat car no console planned.. Cost is not important just want it tio look correct

Clutch pedal is obviously no problem. You will have to consider what to do with the steering column once you remove the gear shift handle. Getting a plain piece for the column should not be too difficult. Camaro shifter will be too short for bench seat Nova. It may work??? but it will look funny. The console style shifters had a different offset than the bench seat versions. There are threads on Steve's site about the correct position to cut the hole in the floor. Many folks, me included have opted to use a Hurst shifter body with a fabricated Muncie handle. The factory shifters were notorious for jamming and being sloppy.

For the colomn what I did and it looked like one was never there. I ground off the hump were the shift handle went in. got some JB weld and filled the hole. A little body puddy sand and paint and you couldn't tell the difference. except for the indicator in the speedo front. But a little tape and that was covered too.

Man that is a good tip for removing the column shifter "hump" thanx

Seems like a lot of work, ya coud just get a console shifted cars column if youre not up to. That is if you can find one.

Getting a column is no problem for me I have quite a few cores left over from camaro restos.... I was looking for pics of what the tunnel looks like from above and below. I have a template on where to make the shifter hole ect. I just want this to look like a factory install
