Big Block Headers 68-72

Hey guys. This is Enrique (Slowpoke70) and I'm posting on behalf of my brother. Actually, this screen name will be used by both of us on this site.

Anyway, my brother (Jesus) has a 1969 Nova that we're about to drop a BBC into.

Its going to be a 454 and we're probably going to run 1.75" primary long tube headers.

What headers are you guys running or what have you run in the past?

Are their any clearence issues with the powersteering box?

Anyone know if the cheap Summit/Dynomax (SUM-G9010 WLK-85110 headers work on these cars?

I have a 73 with a BB and I used the Hooker Comps they fit great and were not expensive $150. They do have 2" tubes. I am very pleased with the fit. However, you MUST use the BB Motor mounts for them to clear the steering box.

Hooker Super Comps (2") fit fine, no denting. They are close though.

Aren't those the Hooker Super Comps?? Hooker has several lines and I think the Super Comps are the best header for the money.

thanks for posting that pic. that's an early type rear-steer car, many headers have issues around the steering box. Those look pretty good to me. Any problems with ground clearance? I have a set of the cheap hookers on my Chevelle, eveything is cool as far as fit, but the drivers side header hangs down almost an inch and a half lower than the passenger side, always scraping the collector on the street. I'n so tired of it I've gone out and bought a different set.

Actually, Tom, that's a '68-74 in the pic. They all have rear steer. ;) The one bonus with these cars, and the Camaros, is that you CAN get a bolt on rack & pinion setup that opens up a lot of space.

No street clerance problems, Both are same height and tuck up under well. Actually better than the headers I had on the 350 before the 454.
