Default Another brake conversion

I have a 73 Nova Custom and I would like to change from manual drum to (power assist?) disc. Front definatley and maybe rear. Where can I get a COMPLETE package or help choosing it, modestly priced, based on original factory height, wheel size etc? My head is spinning trying to make sense of the websites. Thanks in advance.

Woodsy

Dave,

first of all welcome to Team Nova. And second, try here: http://www.oldengine.org/unfaq/leadf.../drum2disc.htm

This refers to the 1st and 2nd gens but it also can work on the 3rd gens that still have drum brakes. I did this to my 66 and had no problems at all. All of the parts I purchased for this swap I bought at AutoZone and used a bunch of 72-74 parts. They are all compatable to each other.. Hope this helps..

Thanks Dan!
I will talk to the folks at AutoZone and see if they can put a package together.
Regards,
Dave

Dave

on my set-up, I'm using an S10 master cylinder and proportioning valve for my 66. As for the calipers, I am pretty sure I ordered ones for a 1974 Nova (v-8) loaded of course, and the same for the rubber brake lines. As far as the hard lines, I just bent some of Auto Zones brake lines and matched everything up that way. If you need pics, just let me know..

check out POL, performance online, http://www.performanceonline.com/sto...tomer/home.php located in fullerton, CA... i was pricing that out myself, for a 4 wheel disc conversion with 10 1/2" rotors, 2" drop spindles, master cylinder, power booster, proportioning valve, brake lines, everything you need for like $900, add $140 for cross drilled slotted rotors...

Frank,
Thanks for the help. I checked out Performance Online and I priced that package at about $1,500. Did I miss something?
Thanks,
Dave

Dave,

it cost me a total of 300.00 for all the parts. Of course, that was about 2 yrs ago.

got an amazing quote today by CPP for a 4 wheel disc brake conversion with power booster, master cylinder, brake lines, 11" cross drilled slotted rotors, 2" drop spindles, and everything else you'd need for only $1,100 as a swap meet special, he said if i show up to long beach hi-performance swap meet they might even have a better price for me...so i'd say check out cpp or performance online and see who gives you a better price...i used performance online brake conversion products for my 66 chevelle and i was satisfied, the performance online used brake pads for a 70 or 80 monte carlo where as cpp uses brake pads for a 70-80 camaro i believe...

Frank,
Did that $1,100 include the booster and proportioning valve?
Thanks,
Dave
