Default Center console wire harness...

Putting a console in my '70 Nova. It didn't have one so I don't have the dash harness that has the console wires....Neutral safety switch, indicator lights. I am not putting in the console guages so if there is any way to just splice in the nescessary wires without buying the complete harness, well that would be greatly appreciated.

You should be able to unplug the connectors on the topside of the steering column that contain the neutral safety wiring and also the reverse light wires.
Chances are the terminals on the end of the factory plugs are 1/4" so if you were to get some 1/4" male terminals and crimp them onto the appropriate sized wires you should be able to plug into the factory harness ends and not have to cut any factory wires. To keep the wires from easily pulling out, loop the new wire back on top of the factory wire and cinch them down with a wire tie or two. If the connection looks like it might easily become shorted, tie it into a place that is safer.
For the console lighting circuit you can use a terminal in the fuse block and tap into it with a 1/4" female terminal end on some new wire.
You can cable tie the two neutral safety switch wires, the two reverse light wires, and the illumination and a ground wire all together and then route them to the console area.

Thanks Jim,
I will give that a try. Just hated to buy a complete dash harness, since the catalogs say that the wires for the console are part of the specific dash harness.
