Welcome to the Team

1974 might be the same as a 1975-'79 if I am remembering them correctly.

History was the insurance companies hated to pay to get cars repaired for minor parking lot bumps so they forced congress, to force the car companies to turn all of their cars into tanks. Zero dollar in damage to the car from any crash at five miles an hour or less.

Well the insurance companies got what they asked for in 1973. First car with a battle ram baby bumper. One small problem: the car stopped dead even bouncing off what it hit with no damage.

The driver and any occupants however were being speared by the steering column or going through the windshield. Insurance companies discovered that cars are cheaper to repair than the car's occupants. So they panicked at the though of loosing money. So they went back to congress and in 1974 shock absorbers where installed instead of steel I-beams.

In 1975 the front sub frame was replaced with the 1975 Camaro front sub frame, but because it was a Nova the frame horns where modified to bolt on the 1974 shock absorber mounted front bumper (Camaros had big plastic molded to the car bumpers that had a webed honeycomb inside to absorb damage instead of steel bumpers with hydraulics).

I may have a set that were sand blasted and painted. But if I recall the fluid was leaking from one bracket. I have taken them apart, removed the fluid and then installed a thick coil spring in the center tube to act like the fluid to absorb the hit. let me know if you are interested and I can check my loft.

I have set of front bumper brackets. As I mentioned the oil is leaking. They were media blasted and painted for DTM epoxy. There are in great shape overall. They are heavy about 20 pounds each. So shipping might be a bit expensive. Let me know if you are interested. Let me know your address and I can give you and idea on shipping cost. Email is easier... [email protected].
