i don't mean to jump in on your post but on assembly manuals i would like anything that is for a Chevy L6 nova. Everything i have is for a V8 only (what happens when i let my parents do the shopping, just like pop, they say you can't tell the difference with diet and normal! WELL I CAN FOLKS!) i would love to have one for an L6 model 71

all the ones i have seen around are for V8 models only. So they cover everything for V8, most of it applys to my L6 but for certain things they just aren't the same so it doesn't apply at all. They have nothing in them for cover anything about a L6 car

a "Shop" manual will cover everything on an L6 the same as the V8... plus all the stuff that's the same regardless of the engine. what's different about diagnosing an alternator on a sixer compared to a V8 ? nothing, so why differentiate between the two ? they don't...

in an assembly manual it's the same. if this part is different for the 6 they show the pages, the V8's too... what you see in the manual, whether L6 or V8 is everything that has nothing to do with the engine. it's the assembly of the car.

i have a 1955 Chevy assembly manual & a 1955 Motor's shop manual that're probably 30 years old and it's the same thing as what i'm describing above. do you think the line workers had one for 4 cylinder cars, one for sixers and a separate one for V8's ? no, it's one book.

i have an assembly manual for my '64 ChevyII and it covers the same as my 30 year old '55 manual, i also
have the Fisher Body manual for my '64, it's probably 1-1/4" thick but the qty of pages that covers the ChevyII probably count less than 25.

it is what it is... now there might be specialized "how to HotRod my inline 6" just like a "How to HotRod my SBC" but they're specialized and not really what could be called an assembly, shop or body manual...
