Hi. New to forum. Recently just acquired a 70 nova with power drum brakes. This thing was in pieces but managed to start putting this together. Issue I am having is when i start the vehicle and vacuum builds, the brake pedal sinks far enough to apply the brakes and turn on brake lights. I had a 72 nova years back but was manual brakes. Any advice?
Sounds like the valve that prevents the power brake booster from holding a vacuum is defective. It is a small Black cylinder in the vacuum line coming off the intake or carb that goes to the vacuum diaphragm canister. Cheap to buy easy no tools needed to fix just plugs into the line. Might want to replace the hose as well as it is probably dried out and cracked allowing air in.
