Default New to the forum...not new to Novas

Hello all, I am new here and am going to have lots of questions.
A little back ground on me....My first car was a 1969 Z28 DZ 302 car. It's a long story but it burned in a fire and was stolen 2 days later. So I was off to find another ride. A nieghbor that lived behind my folks had a nova for sale. I went to look at it, he was installing a new clutch. The car was this...1969 Nova SS 396/375 hp with a bench seat rubber floor mat, 12 bolt 4 speed car. Butternut yellow black vinyl top ONE OWNER completely stock!!!
I bought it. Sold it 3 years later due to my first born was on the way.
Well I am back looking for a Nova. I will be posting questions soon.

Welcome to TN and Good Luck with your quest.

Once upon a time (1972 - 1977) I was the second owner of an Astro Blue, 70 SS, 396, M22, 4.11 geared 12 bolt, bench seat, rubber floor, radio and heater delete, screaming machine. When I bought it the only parts that were not installed at the factory were the Hooker headers and trush glass packs, Mallory dual point distributor and the traction bars. It only had 5,000 miles on it and alot of those were a 1/4 mile at a time. Sold mine because the now ex-wife told me to. I know that I parted with the wrong one first.

Welcome to the team!

I have another story that I can personally verify since I knew the involved parties. A guy bought a '69 Nova SS 396, 4 speed and 12 bolt 4.11 posi. He drove it two miles to his house and parked it in the garage. He removed all the chrome and wrapped it in newspaper, removed the wheels and tires and placed the car on jack stands. He filled the engine to the top with oil and covered and wrapped the car for storage in his garage. This car was down the street from my house in Quakertown, Pa. A friend of mine bought the car in the early '90's from the guy. (A little farther down the street from my house) He dug out all the chrome, wheels and tires, and pushed it down to his house. He got it running again and has been driving it ever since. For the first 25 years or so of it's life the car was driven less than ten miles!

My '77 has a neat history as well, it was racing in the '70's and early '80's. It doesn't have many miles on it either. About 500 miles total since I completely redid the running gear and suspension. I just took it down the track for the first time in about 20 years this past September.

I sold mine to a buddy with a drag boat....guess where that motor went. He installed a 396 back into the nova that was making ~325 hp, small heads etc. That was about 1980 or so. I got a call from my dad about 10yrs after I sold this car, the owner was restoring it. Well I still had the original spare, smog pump and tubing and a couple other pieces in storage. He was thrilled to have them. I also had to tell him to look at the spring mounts on the axle as they were tearing, the body behind the drivers pass window was tearing also. Guess my next one will have frame connectors for that very reason
