Default seatbelts

Hello,
What's everyone doing for seatbelts? Just got my 73' on the road and the front retractables are shot. It has the retractable lap belt with the separate fixed shoulder.

Many vendors sell replacement webbing but they will not have the OEM buckles. If you don't mind a generic seat belt without the Chevy Bow Tie, GM logo, Fleur de Lis, or whatever (different years and models had different emblems on the seat belt buckle) you can find generic belts in a combination of popular (not necessarily exact copies of the original color) fairly easily and cheaply. There are others who offer the service of sewing original colored nylon seat belt webbing onto your factory original buckles and clips for a price that takes a little longer to get them in your car.

Thanks Dave. Just did a Google search and came across a few companies. Hopefully I can get replacement that work with my shoulder belts.

I had the same set up as you. I used Morris Classic Concepts and replaced mine with the setup that has both pieces integrated together.

Car seat belts are effective in protecting the human body during emergency braking or accidents. So how do you choose a seat belt webbing? Car seat belts must be able to withstand a certain amount of tension. The general materials for webbing that can withstand high tension are nylon, polyester, PP, pure cotton, polyester cotton. However, safety webbing requires strong toughness, wear resistance, and is not easy to break, which is a basic requirement.

In summer, a lot of sweating in the car is inevitable. The car seat belt is so resistant to sweat and moisture, and the moldy webbing is the best choice. Because the safety belt is in contact with the human body at zero distance, the webbing must be soft. Based on these requirements, look at the characteristics of the webbing material. The cotton is easy to absorb water. The PP webbing is rough. It is not difficult to find that nylon webbing and polyester webbing are the best. Material of safety webbing.

Nylon car seat belt webbing is specially treated, and can also be waterproof, fireproof, and UV-resistant. Polyester webbing is often used as aerial webbing due to its high tensile strength and low elasticity.
