Default Rear Quarter Window Channels

Hello all, I was having trouble finding replacements for my rear window channels and the folks at GMClassics referred me to a place called Restoration Specialties. So, I gave em a call, sent them my original pieces to duplicate, and they sent me back a very nice set of replacement channels. The materials used were just like the originals. Nice job!! The website is http://www.restorationspecialties.com/. Anyway, thought I would share this info if you're in the same boat I was in looking for parts.

Tom, did they do the vertical channel as well? Does your car have the double channel on the vertical? How much was the duplication? Jack

Hey Jack, they did the vertical as well. It's the single channel I believe and it was $75 for both windows (4 pieces total) plus shipping. When I get home I will post a picture for you to look at.

Jack, here are some pics of the channels. Not sure I knew what double channel looked like, but these pictures should clear that up. See ya.

Tom, on a 69 - 71 the 1/4 window has a double channel that looks like this:

and this slides in the bottom channel to keep the window in position. It sucks and was a bad design but no one makes the double channel as a Re-Pop yet.

Does your original have the double channel? Thanks for the reply, Jack

Take a look at web site:

Nova454.com

I wonder if their pieces will work. On my 68 the rear quarter window fall off the track.

Jack, yep sorry about that. Mine has the double channel just as yours. Same design for the 73. I wasn't sure what double channel you were talking about, but I see it now. Just finished putting in one side and it works perfectly. You're right though, not a great design. See ya.

So your NEW from Restoration Specialties vertical weather strip U-Channel has the double channel? If so, many, many, many people are going to be happy including me. I just want to be sure that the part duplicates the original...Yes - No I can't tell from your Pic... lol Jack

Doug,
Right below the pic it says the following:
MUST USE YOUR ORIGINAL QUARTER
GLASS GUIDE THIS WILL NOT FIT CORRECT
WITH THE AFTERMARKET GUIDE

I'm not sure what the above means but from the picture the plastic slide looks correct but the U-Channel does not appear to have the double channel and the glide is in the wrong place. I think a call would be necessary to confirm. If you need only the slide on your original channel then it looks like the original.

Okay Jack, only because I like you, I went out took the piece out of the car and here is picture of it. It is a double channel strip. Sorry, before I just took a mirror and looked at the bottom of the strip, but I guess you didn't believe me. LOL Anyway, here's the proof. When you call RS ask for Jeff. Enjoy!!

WOW, this is great news. You should post this in the "Sticky good parts thread" and start a new thread as a Sticky called hard to find parts now available. Thanks Tom, You did not have to take the part back out though, I just wanted to confirm that it was indeed a double channel but GREAT JOB....Jack

As Jaclel said, WOW! I have the double channel but they are original and worn badly. The one you show combined with the other piece I see at Nova454.com should finally allow us to roll down the rear windows and have them actually come back up.

Well good, I hope others can use this company and get the parts they need. You'll need to send him your parts as a guide and so he can attach the U-shaped piece to the longer non-vertical channel that bolts to the body structure (not sure what that piece is called).

Jack, I'm not sure where that Sticky section is within the board. I don't mind moving it there, but can't find it. Thanks.
