Please bear with me as this is my first post and I hope it gets to the right forum (Free Classifieds).
I'm trying to locate my 1969 Nova SS396 w/L78. She was special ordered in the spring of 1969 from Jack Wall Chevrolet in Pasadena, CA, and I picked her up just about Easter of that year. Unfortunately, I don't have the VIN, but the original CA license plate was YOP 970. The exterior color was Dusk Blue with black interior. She had a M21 tranny, posi-traction, 12-bolt rear end, NO power steering and a bench front seat. I sold her around 1974 (maybe 1975) to someone in the San Gabriel area. This is likely a dead end search, but... She was beautiful and fun. Thanks for your indulgence!!! |

Welcome to the Team!
That one is gone! Build another! Just don't waste money on SS badges, Stripes (which were original only on the Camaro/Chevelle) or trim, as it won't make it go any faster. Find a two door six cylinder body that is straight and free of rust. Strip it to bare metal and paint it your favorite color (once again only the Z/28, and the SS Camaro as well as the Chevelle SS ever got stripes). You can find a reproduction interior, though I wouldn't waste money on a console instead putting it into an electronic gauge package with sensors and a central digital dash. Install a TKO or a T-56 five speed over drive behind your 496 rebuilt by using a Gen V out of a pick-up truck. Just need good heads to top it off. Narrowed Dana 60 rear end makes the drive line bullet proof. Big Dave |
