Re: Stock power ratings?

Power ratings were flexible. When the 396 L78 was introduced it was rated at 425 horsepower. That shocked the insurance companies that threw a surcharge on the cars with that engine. So Chevy reduced...

Re: New guy

Welcome to the Team Bob!

Your going to laugh yourself silly when you get a chance to examine the front suspension on your economy car. It won a prestigious engineering award in 1961 for being the...

Re: Richmond 5 speed

Fits a lot better than I thought it would. I used to cut out half the floor and cover it with a supper boot.

Welcome to the Team!

I haven't commented on this post because I haven't bought a new project in ages, and I wouldn't buy from an end used most of the ime with the access I have to scrap cars and...

Re: Bench seat shifter

Whatever Richmond recommends, though I doubt if you will find one as most cars had bucket seats.

Re: Body Side Moldings

Sheet metal is the same but there are some trim differences between a 1966 and a '67. The '66 has normal door lock buttons, while the '67 has an anti theft proof rotating disc in the center of the...

Re: Richmond 5 speed

Wouldn't it be easier to buy a press brake attachment for your shop press and form flat steel into shapes you can weld together to make an equally strong but about ten times lighter transmission...

Re: 1967 Nova strange bracket in trunk

No pump that I recall it was a pressure pulse of air. They also had an option for liquid tire chains that shot liquid in front of the tires to get a grip on ice. Same power source. I never saw them:...

Re: Richmond 5 speed

No TH400 option offered so far as I know of. Maybe with the L-79 option (350 horse 327), though I suspect most L-79 cars had a Muncie four speed.

The Richmond is stronger than the Muncie the same...

Re: rust questions

It uses three different spray on solutions to stop the rust remove as many flakes as possible then encapsulate the rest. But it is fast and it works. In the old days they would blow the car apart and...

Re: Drum to disc

No but the rotors fit the spindles. Requires a custom cast front steering knuckle included with many cheap drum to disc conversion kits.

Re: Rim sizes

I would buy seventeens for the street as it has a better selection of tires to choose from. For racing you are limited to fifteen (for pro tires sixteen inch diameter wheels) as that is the size that...

Re: Gas Struts for a '74 Hatchback?

Rock Auto doesn't list them so no one is making the part by application. Here is a fix from Steve's Nova Site:

Re: WIW = 1969 SS350 4spd complete NOVA motor

The engine application stamp (HA) comes back to a 1967-68, 327, 275 (horse), MT. Found another reference that HA is associated with a1969 350 300 horse MT.
