Oh I never followed up here but I went with a Griffin Radiator Fan Combo, direct fit. Great product and service so far.

Spoke to Holley, apparently this specific carb has a restrictor in that passage, that is the one that got stuck sideways on installation, they are gonna get back to me with an update how to sort it...

Thanks for the quick replies!

I agree on the marring (also the body has a some casting flashing), I will try and clean it up to get a good seal, once I have chatted with the Holley reps.
