Re: Will these Wheels and tires fit my Nova?

Tire height for a Nova is 24" from what I remember, so any size tire/wheel that works out to that height will work in your Nova (and keep your speedo accurate).
As for backspacing, I think you may...

Re: Good BBC street combo

The local Arco ran 103 octane hi-test back when my brother worked there.
Probably '68 or '69.

Re: Good BBC street combo

novage,

I don't see why you can't get decent pull from a 427...especially in something as light as a Nova.
Have you checked with Bill Mitchell's World Products...

Re: How can I improve my cars horsepower and sound

You're welcome.
Not much of a turbo fan, so I'll bow out on that subject.
Instead, I will just stick by what I...

???...I thought my response (https://www.novas.net/forums/showpost.php?p=318305&postcount=9) addressed his question quite thoroughly.

Re: Which mufflers do you like without the drone?

Bob,

Two words for ya - CHERRY BOMB.
Still the most [email protected]$$ sound on the planet, ESPECIALLY when running duals off a V8.

Re: How can I improve my cars horsepower and sound

Yeah, start with a 355 built to '70 LT1 specs...tickle it with a 150HP whiff of nitrous...then you're ready for Street Outlaws. ;)

P.S. Weren't we talkin' about inline sixes? Whatever...

Re: How can I improve my cars horsepower and sound

I agree with Dave here, for the reason of how well the head will seal.
The inline sixes were only made with two rows of head bolts, yielding 4 bolts / cylinder.
With the V8's, you have 5 bolts /...

Re: rear diff decoded

Well, to be certain, Mr.Gasket's 8.5" rear end will be a little beefier than the one featured in my old Vega, but I just wanted to interject that there's another way to decipher what gear ratio...

Exclamation Re: rear diff decoded

If you're trying to decipher the gear ratio, take the cover off and spin the ring gear.
Eventually, you'll come across some writing on the edge of the gear.
Some of it will be two sets of numbers...

Re: 65 rear differential

Could it be that your LSD was made for an 8.5" rear end?
Could be why it won't fit in your 8.2" rear end.

Re: How can I improve my cars horsepower and sound

That's only one variation of the Sagniaw, Dave.
There was also a 3.5/1.89 and 3.11/1.84 gearset, as well as the standard truck gearset; 2.85/1.68.
GM took those 3-peed gearsets and developed...

A bit late to the party, as King hasn't been around for about 5 years, but I noticed everyone seemed to interpret is question as wanting to decipher gear ratio of the differential, but I didn't read...

Thumbs up Re: How can I improve my cars horsepower and sound

One thing you can do with any inline six is to replace the stock muffler with a straight thru muffler (like a cherry bomb).
Sound won't be that obtrusive, but will definitely take on a much better...

Re: Richmond 5 speed

Would be nice if you could replace the seat with one that had a cutaway in the middle, or if you could just cut a hunk away from the middle and reupholster.
...might not be a practical solution, at...

Stock power ratings?

Anyone know what the HP & torque rating was for a regular ol' 396 & 427 was?
I'm talking about something you might've pulled out of a dump truck, NOT an L78 or similar.
I used to know, but have...

Re: Richmond 5 speed

Aukai,

In my mind, can't go wrong with the classic Hurst shifter topped with the white ball that features the shifter pattern in black. -b
