Re: Pinion offset advice

Are you talking about the left to right pinion offset? If you are then keep it like it is now. All of the GM rear wheel drive cars have the pinion offset 1/2 inch from center to the right. It doesn't...

Re: Richmond 5 speed

The Chevy II shifter for the Muncie mounted farther forward on the transmission than it did for other cars. Your shifter is mounted in the position for a Camaro or Chevelle. You may have to modify...

Re: Richmond 5 speed

I didn't realize that the 5 speed was that much larger than a Muncie. Looks like you have some work ahead of you.

Re: Richmond 5 speed

The shifter hump probably won't work with that shifter. If you were using a Hurst competition plus shifter then you could probably use it, but with the Long shifter you are probably going to have to...

Re: doug nash trans 4 speed

If it's the transmission that I think you are talking about then it's a Super T10 Borg Warner. Doug Nash bought the ST10 when BW stopped making it. Then later Richmond bought it from Doug Nash. It's...

Re: Bellhousing

I'm pretty sure that this is the bracket that we used for my dad's '65. https://gmclassics.com/part/v8-z-bar-block-conversion-bracket-small-block-for-use-on-all-non-nova-v8-blocks/
This one has the...

Re: Bellhousing

Are you out of the US?
Yes, I'm still on Team Camaro, Team Chevelle, NastyZ28, HotRodders, SuperCarRegistry and a few others every day.

Re: Bellhousing

I'm not real familiar with those cars. My dad is building a '65 Nova with a 327 and a 4 speed, but using an original bell housing and iron manifolds, so not the same situation. I would contact Church...

Re: Auto to 4 speed clutch pedal question

I'm pretty sure that you can remove the shaft that the pedals swing on without removing the bracket. You might be able to do it with the steering column in place.

Re: Legend 700 or M22w

I've got a 3.70 gear with 31 inch tires. That puts me in the 3.2 range for a normal size tire. Yes, my car still pulls hard. The 2.98 first gear works well.

Re: Legend 700 or M22w

I've got a M23Z in my Camaro. I went with the 2.98 first gear so I could run a more highway friendly gear in the rear. The LG700 is a good transmission, but kind of hard to get. You might want to...

Re: 12 bolt/10 bolt

The Nova got the 8.5 10 bolt starting in '72. That is what yours should be, but who knows what has been swapped on your car over the years. You need to verify what you have before doing anything...

Re: Moving spring perches

All of them that I have measured have been 42 1/2 inches with the spring perches down 6 degrees at the front. I don't recall what the angle of the perch to the axle tube is, but that could be right.

Re: Moving spring perches

Nova and first gen Camaro springs are not parallel. They also angle in toward the front. The spring perches that are on the Camaro rear end can be used again if you are careful when you cut them off....

Re: GM 10 bolt rebuild

You have the Chevy 8.2 10 bolt. You also have a 2 series differential, which will only accept 2.73 and 2.56 gears. If you want to use 3.08 to 4.56 gears you will have to switch the differential for a...

Re: Centering rear end

You may need to use different spring perch pads. If you use the pads from the car that the rear end is from then it should have the holes in the pads to line up the rear end on the spring. It's...

Re: What 1st. gear ratio would be best ?

2.64 is the strongest, and with the 3.91 gear you don't need any more than that.

Re: Re aline spider gears

You may have to turn the axles as you turn the drive shaft. Just work slow and keep an eye on what it going on. You do not have to remove the differential to fix this.

Re: Re aline spider gears

Just put the transmission in neutral and turn the drive shaft until you can get the shaft back in.
