Re: "other than your ChevyII/Nova"

I thought about this question for a few years. I finally decided to do it. I built a 55 Nomad, Gasser style. 427, M22, 4.56, straight axel, black. It is a blast to drive.

Re: What do you think about this One ?

Manifolds are available from D&R Classics and a complete original style exhaust system is available from Gardners Exhaust. Both are very good quality. I have used them both.

Re: Straighten orig. rear bumper or repro?

The original bumper is a much nicer piece than the repro ones. The chrome will break when it it straightened, so it will need to be re-chromed. I vote for repairing the original.

Re: Solid flat tappet cam selection for 396/402

I talked to Harold about the cam too. He recomended the 402. The valve train is not lightwieght.
Yes, I have to keep the RPM's up a little.
It has a decent lope. Smooths out around 3500.

Re: Solid flat tappet cam selection for 396/402

I would say power starts at 2000. On the dyno, the engine quits making power at around 6000. Seat of the pants power feels real good.
373 gears
M21 4 speed

800 is the lowest price I have heard of. Where are they available for that price? I have been thinking about one for my Nova.

The BB frame stands are different than the SB ones. The BB one will raise the engine on the drivers side and will also offset the engine to the pass side of the car. This also moves the trans mount...

Re: 72 6cyl to 396 BB conversion

The BB crossmember is different too. The BB frame stands move the engine to the pass side a little. I have read that you can oblong the holes on a SB one to work. The Z bar is also longer on the BB.

Can you give more info on it? How is the body? Any rust? Is the drivetrain solid? Is it driveable now? Pictures would help.
