Re: 1972 Nova 700r4 crossmember

Fore to aft measurement of the mounting point (and length of the drive shaft) differs between a PowerGlide and a 700R4/4L60 transmission. However the height at which it...

Re: 1/2" body lean to driver side

Or some one like me is driving your car, then it leans. Springs react to loading. They are rated at inches of compression in hundred weights. You get a driver sitting that weighs 350 pounds it goes...

Re: I'm new, help me figure out pieces

Or you could look in the Assembly Manual at every piece that Chevy ever put on a Nova There are only four or five pages that show that view of the fire wall area where the master cylinder bolts up.

Re: 1/2" body lean to driver side

Not unless it bothers you.

If it does you can install an air shock in place of the standard one at each corner of the car and pump in air to raise it until it sits level. You can find little...

Re: I'm new, help me figure out pieces

Been working on Chevy's Camaros and Novas mostly for the past half century and I have never saw that before. I owned them when they were new and worked on them as a used car. Even used cars sold at...

Re: Seems to run out of fuel

Fuel pump doesn't get week it fails. It is basically a rubber diaphragm the moves upo and down following an elliptic on the front of the cam. If the cam is turning the arm is pushing the diaphragm up...

Re: Seems to run out of fuel

Could be a wasp nest clogging your gas tank vent, or the wrong fill cap installed.

One possibility of hundreds.

Re: I'm new, help me figure out pieces

Welcome to the Team Jr!

That is an aftermarket part that didn't come with the car when new. It could be for bumping the engine over to adjust valves or it could just be to signal the home planet...

Re: Where to find BRUSH on Engine paint??

Depending upon area you need to cover spray some in the cap and use a small paint brush (hobby store) to touch up any scratches.

Re: 1970 Yenko

Don not only had a contract with Chevy for his COPO orders, but with Caterpillar in Mapleton Illinois to cast his own personal BBC block at their foundry. His block is easily identified by his name...

Re: 69 Nova ZZ427 Install

Sent you a PM containing the obsolete (no longer available at your Chevy service department but most are made by the aftermarket) parts to install a BBC in a Camaro first gen or a 1968-'72 Nova.

Re: What is the bracket?

They didn't use a reverse lock out with a column shifted car. What he has circled includes the shift linkage, but it could continue on behind the shifter linkage and they don't touch in any way.

Re: Pioneer 3/8" rod bolts

The rod is fine but it will have to be resized again with new bolts.

Resizing shaves a bit off the big end and a new rod bearing bore is cut in the rod again every time you do that which lightens...

Re: Pioneer 3/8" rod bolts

When you replace the rod bolts you have to resize the rod. Since the combination of a good ARP rod bolt and machine shop labor is close to the price of a new rod with an ARP bolt installed in it;...

Re: Slip Yoke Endplay

And it probably will not ne round when you are finished with your efforts. That is why i recommended using an engine lathe to turn it.

The drive shaft spins at 1,500 to 2,100 RPM in normal...

Re: Good BBC street combo

Not a question of heads (though the stock heads have valves that are too small), but gearing. A 427 is designed to power a medium duty two and a half to seven ton truck with 5.38 to 6.13:1 rear...

Re: Good BBC street combo

A 496 rotating assembly will wake it up. It is considered a good start in BBC engines..With big blocks bigger is better which is why i consider a 540 a minimal size engine for the street.

Re: Slip Yoke Endplay

Re: Bottom end

Adding studs requires a line boring of your bare block. If it is together now it has to be blown back apart and remachined.

This is because studs clamp differently than bolts. Both impart the...

Re: Bottom end

Two bolt and four bolt blocks are the sane (assumes it had a four bolt version). Newer blocks out of 1983 and up, and particularly 1987 and up factory blocks can only handle "reliably" 350...
