Re: Windshield Molding Installation Problem

I'm always prefer not to mess with the alignment of the fender when its bolted on.

You can insert the clip in place before you install the molding, maybe straighten it a little. And use an hex...

Welcome!

Nice gift you have planned for your dad. I agree with Dave, 69-71 is my favorite.

Re: 66 nova 230 L6 runs rough, carb newbie

If closing the idle screw doesnt make the engine stall, it sounds to me like you have a vacumm leak somewhere. You should check the basics before trying to find something else. Carburator to manifold...

Re: 1972 Chevy Nova SS from Argentina

Nope, no resistance at all. It barely absorbs the free play that the arm have.

I will try the thinner gasket, but I'm sure it wont make any difference.

I'm thinking the solution will be to...

Re: 1972 Chevy Nova SS from Argentina

Well, if I see correctly the arm in your pump is 4 mm deeper than mine. And it has a more pronounced boss in the tip, where it makes contact with the pushrod.

Re: 1972 Chevy Nova SS from Argentina

I just got a response from Holley. They told me that the pump is correct for the engine, and the pump is designed to work with the 5.750 pushrod. They told me that maybe the thickness of the gasket...

Re: 1972 Chevy Nova SS from Argentina

No, unfortunetally this is the only pump I have, and you know, finding another BB pump here is almost impossible.

I'm going to take a few detailed pictures of it, so maybe you can compare it with...

Re: 1972 Chevy Nova SS from Argentina

Thanks man.

I got a reply from CompCams, they said that the minimum lift on the cam lobe should be 0.340, so my 0.380 is more than fine.

I guess the problem is now reduced to the pushrod or...

Re: 1972 Chevy Nova SS from Argentina

Now, comparing the lift on the pump lobe to the lift of the valve lobes, it doesn't seem that bad. This particular cam has 0.305 lift on the intake and exhaust, so a 0.380 looks correct. I'm I...

Re: 1972 Chevy Nova SS from Argentina

That was my first doubt, but no, its a correct BB pump.

I just went to the garage and checked the lift on the pushrod. I have 0.38" (9.5 mm) of max lift. Its that ok?

Just to be sure, the...

Re: Decal Placement

I have the 1972 Factory assembly manual, I don't know if it is the same location in the 72 and 74, but maybe it can help you:

This is the cam:

http://imagizer.imageshack.us/v2/640x480q90/846/r7fz.jpg (https://imageshack.com/i/nir7fzj)

The lobe for the pump is there, and I think is a regular cast iron cam.

Re: 1972 Chevy Nova SS from Argentina

Re: 1972 Chevy Nova SS from Argentina

This one is the one for the 70 Chevelle Dave. The dent doesn't look like it was made on purpose or with any kind of tool. It looks like someone let it fall to the floor :D
