Default 64 Chevy Nova Rear Wheels & Tires Question

I have a 1964 Nova with a stock 10" rear and I just bought Cragar S/S 15" x 7" with Goodyear TA Radials 255/60SR15" and I want to know if they will fit using a 4 1/8" rear spacing?

my vote will be an unfortunate... no

but i guess you already bought them, so check it out and see.

here's a site that might help you, best bet is to always measure your wheel opening etc to check/confirm what'll fit.

Those wheels "should fit" with a 235 tire.

so I take it that the 235 is not as wide as a 255? The car happens to be in the paint stage now and I can't check it out till it's finished but I had the opportunity to buy these tires and wheels and I jumped on them.

the 4-1/8 back space with the 235 tire is going to be very close to hitting. i had a set of 235's with 4-3/8 back space wheels on my '64 and barely had room... all cars vary from one to the next, so again, you already bought them so try them out to see if they'll fit.

added note, if you have rear discs or plan on installing rear discs i can tell you for sure they won't fit due to the thickness of the rotor moving the wheel out. a 4-1/2 back space (minimum) will be needed.

i have 15x8 weld draglites with a 5'' b.s. but when i had leaf springs on the car i had to use a 1/2'' spacer i also had to massage the inner fender a little when i ran these with leaf springs.

even a 225/60/15 tire on a 7" wide rim with 4-1/4" backspace is tight on the back of a 62-65 car.

Good News! I ended up using 235/60 15" there is about 1/4" on each side that clears the inner fenders, oh and BTW I found out that the previous owner did in fact cut off the rear wheel well inner lip and did a very good job doing it! So all is well with my tire issues! Now to the next issue....

COOL... one thing to look at while you're under there, check to confirm the previous owner sealed the cut out area to prevent water/dirt debris etc... ya don't need it accumulating and possibly rusting out later, right ?

glad ya got hooked up
