Question idling problems

hey everybody. i'm a newbie to the muscle car world so bare with me!
just got myself a '72 nova and looking forward to hopefully finishing the previous owner's restoration. he just put a rebuilt 350 engine, edelbrock preformer series carb and msd 6a ignition.
ok so i ran out of gas the other day, but it was a good thing that it happend rite in front of my house bcuz my neighbor let me have some gas from a little 1.5gallon tank he had in his garage. it took more than a couple of tries for the engine to start but it finally started and i drove off to the nearest gas station and filled up. ok so ever since that day the engine has just been running like crap and it sounds like its going to turn off @ idle. i tried adjusting the carb by bringing the adjusting screws all the way in & then bringing them out 3 full turns (bcuz i've heard that's supposedly factory settings) to see if that would do anything but didnt really help at all. it use to run fine and had pretty good power so looking for some help to get back to normal.

you might find that some dirt/debris entered into the carb...

it's a pretty easy fix too...

remove the screws that hold the top of the carb on... flip it upside down and remove the pins that hold/locate the floats... remove the needles from the seats, using a flat blade screwdriver, remove the seats... on the back side of the seat in the fuel passage area there are two little screens that slip inside the seat, you'll see the screens when you remove the seats...

clean those screens, re-install screens, seats. needles, floats and then re-install carb top...

that is the most common issue with Eddy carbs...

hope i helped ya and welcome to Team Nova

I had the same trouble.I took the top off of the carb, took a rag and got the fuel out of the bowls ,then blew air thru the two jets on the bottom of each bowl .I put it back together, then set it with a vacuum guage and it runs better than it ever has. Mike
