Paper work that came with the car when first sold is the only way to truely tell on all Novas with the exception of 72 where they actually have a designation in the VIN#. The options sound correct, but they can all be bought off E-bay. You can check date codes on the options and make yourself more comfortable with the fact that it is an SS car, but the only way to know 100% is with origional sales documentation of the car.
BBC cars have HD cooling (four core instead of three core radiator) along with a different heater core, longer Z-bar, different front spring coils, 3/8ths inch fuel line instead of 5/16ths inch, frame chassis motor stands, and cross member are all different than the small block SS parts. The accessory mounting brackets are all different as well though the SBC P/S will bolt up to the big block the alignment of the belt will be off.
If you have all of that then it was either converted correctly from a SBC car and no-one will be the wiser, or it came with a big block and is a SS car because aside from COPO you couldn't get a BBC without the SS package.
Either way you're golden so I wouldn't worry about it.
Welcome to the board. Sounds like you found a sweet car.
The Muncie will have a partial vin stamped onto the main case. It is usually on the top and hard to see. Using a mirror you should be able to check.
