1965 will have the small journal crank and could not be a 307 as they had not come out yet (introduced in 1968 when they switched over to the large journal crank used up until the last of the first generation small blocks went extinct in 2001). A 327 has a four inch bore and with a 283 crank can make a spiffy 301 cubic inch high reving screamer. A 307 crank shaft in a 350 block with 327 pistons makes a nice 327 for a later model car that left the factory with a 307.
So which engine do you have? Big Dave |

the engine shows to be a 1970 350 engine out of a truck or van.
as a core (something that's rebuildable) i'll say it's worth $100.00-$150.00 the heads are probably large chamber, low compression heads. it's not that valuable or desired of an engine for performance... other than the short block "Core" that is. JR

OH, OK... well i'll say an extra $25-50 bucks for the transmission too.
sorry if that's not enough. the engine has "X" amount of miles and regardless if it runs now it's not a new/rebuilt engine. it's a core. the transmission might be worth more if it was more of a desirable unit... say a TH350, TH400, TH200r4 etc... not many people want a 2 speed Powerglide these days. now you may find someone out there that'll pay you more. if you do then that's great for you. i wish ya the best, JR

The 010 block should be a 4-bolt main block and is a pretty good starting point for an up to 500 horsepower build. Depending on if it has already been bored .030 over or not, it may be a little more time consuming to blueprint, but a good machine shop should be able to do it with no problem. I had one that was able to go .060 over and never had any problems. Ran cool all the time and everything.

not necessarily... the 3970010 just indicates it's a 350, 2 or 4 bolt. it could be a car, truck or even an industrial engine. it's the pad suffix codes that state what the engine is actually out of.
now that specific engine with the pad code of TBX showed what it came in... there's no telling if it's a 2 or 4 bolt but being it's a 1/2 to 1 ton truck/van engine it'll be a low compression, large chambered headed engine. there's probably a zillion cores out there just like it. i'd venture a thought that if it WAS a 327 as was originally thought that the value would be higher (if core was std std std) as cores are getting more scarce. here's a couple links: http://www.nastyz28.com/gm-chevy-cod...s-suffix-7.php http://www.mortec.com/castnum.htm
