Got to drop oil pan again on my 73 Nova [ with out pulling engine ]. But question is can drop pan while engine sitting in car. Any tips , advice little tricks would be greatly appreciated.

remove distributor.
disconnect the engine mounts from block, jack up the engine and install a couple very short 2x4's in between the mounts and the block. lower the engine onto the blocks. remove steering linkage (unsure if this is needed) i think this procedure will work.

Johnny wont steer you wrong!! You shouldn't need to remove the steering linkage and the 2x4 trick should give you the clearance to get the pan off. You might have to turn the motor over to gain a little bit more room.
