I'm replacing my double pumper with a vacuum secondary carburetor.I would eventually like to use this dp again for some weekend racing at the drag strip. What's the best way to store a carb that may not be used for 6months or so?Is all that's required is draining the gas out of the fuel bowls or is there more to it?thanks in advance:beers:
Yank it dran it and blow compressed air through the main jets if you want to verify there is no gas left in the metering block. I would then spray in some WD-40 to keep moisture out until it is reused.
I take them apart and blow dry them, silicone spray the bowl/metering block gaskets, accelerator pump and any rubber parts I use Marvel, put it back together loose so gaskets don't get squished.. I had a carb that I forgot about that sat for about 8 years and all I did was tighten everything up and it worked like it was when I put it away!.. WD works good also but do not use the spray use bulk in a squirt bottle, the propellant attacks rubber I found that out the hard way!!!...
Thanks for the replies guys, sounds like disassembling and drying the carb then providing a means of protecting from moisture is a good idea. What is this stuff marvel?A silicone spray, where can you find this stuff, auto parts store?
No one knows (except the Shadow) what is in Marvel Mystry Oil. Stuff has been around longer than me, but it is like castor oil; it cures everything. There is always a can sitting on a shelf in an autoparts store.
And if you use it in gas it does wonders in preserving the braided lines when the system is drained and the car is put away for a long period of time!...
