Hello folks,

I recently purchased a 1974 Chevy Nova Custom, and I have been trying to get manufacturer's information (i.e. RPO's, etc.) on it. I went to my local dealership this past weekend, and they told me that they could not help me.

While searching earlier this morning, I came across this one outfit in Canada called Vintage Vehicles Services, but they are only focusing on Canadian built vehicles. I have already checked my VIN, and I know that my car was built in the US. Does anyone know where I can get the same type of information on my vehicle as I would if it was Canadian?

Any help will be greatly appreciated,

Kenny

Welcome to the Team Kenny!

Doesn't exist in America for Chevrolet cars (Pontiac it does just not Chevys). In Canada it was required by law to keep records to prevent auto theft. If you buy Doug Marian's book cleverly entitled Chevy II Nova it has production information and RPO numbers and all of that kind of stuff.

if your lucky there might still be a build sheet lurking in the following places: under front seat under rear seat on top pf fuel tank, behind glove box, under carpet

the build sheet will give the absolutes to your ride, assuming theres one around there and is still ledgeable :/

Hi everyone,

I want to thank all of you for your suggestions and help. I found the book mentioned on Amazon recently, and I am planning to order it. So far, I have found the shop repair manual for all 1974 Chevrolet products, the parts list, and the frame (sub-frame) plans sheet. I know I can also order the owner's manual and the fisher body manual as well.

Again, thanks for your help,

Kenny

Nova Resource will show you most of the information that you will need for your car. To absolutely prove it's a Rally Nova is impossible without the buildsheet or the dealer invoice that came with the car. Doug's book will list all of the RPO options that were available for that year and you can verify their existence on yours. I highly recommend f you are going to do a restoration that you take pictures, pictures, and more pictures before, during and after. I do that with every restoration or modified build that I do.
