Hello all. I just found this forum and it seems to be one that I will be using frequently. I was helping a friend the other day to put a motor in his 68 Chevy 4x4. You guessed it, he was puling the engine out of his 73 nova 4 door. The car was a factory 250 car and he replaced it with a 350 crate engine... which is now in the 68. Well my curiosity got the better of me so I had to ask what was to be the fate of the nova. He said he did not like it and was gonna sell it. I asked what he had to have for it and he said $500. I said I'd take it. Then he gave me a 307 engine he had sitting there. I'm not a big 307 fan but it will run for a while until I pull the crank and build a 327 using it and a 350 4 bolt block.

we buy hunks of metal, cloth and plastic... spend endless hours working on them... spend our life savings, plus some on them... and in the end we take them out and beat on them trying to wear the tires out...


it's a strange sickness... no cure for it either...

other than to buy another one once the one we have is done :rolleyes:

Congrats! Hey, drive the heck out of that 307... One thing I've noticed is that while I'm sitting in the car driving I come up with all sorts of plans. This cam, that tranny, this gear, this guage... I change my mind all the time. Just drive it for a while and remember what Shifty said! It's a sickness! You'll think of all kinds of cool mods and crazy replacement schemes for the 307! Hey, names Nate and i got my first nova 4 door bout a month ago. just had a two tone paint job on it ( that wasnt done right). had brand new tires on it and monster 295-50-15s one the back fairly new 350 that doesnt run quite right but runs good enough for a cruiser. only paid $1700 for it. gave up my quad but got me a sweet car.
