Philip Jul 1st, 09, 05:13 PM Not under rated just over doored :) But they make excellent parts cars :D 63gasser Jul 1st, 09, 07:41 PM I happen to think that the more doors are great, we have one and want more:thumbsup: Big Dave Jul 1st, 09, 09:22 PM They make a better sleeper! Big Dave David_H Jul 2nd, 09, 01:22 AM They make a better sleeper! Big Dave Yes they make a great sleeper but I think I'm with Philip on this one they make the best parts cars:yes::D Gatecrasher Jul 2nd, 09, 02:20 AM 4drs aren't underrated. They make excellent derby cars. The only ones that are better are the longroofs. NOVABOB Jul 2nd, 09, 04:27 PM 4 Drs, 2 Drs, Wagons, Sedans, Hardtops, 6 Cyl or a V8...It's ALL GOOD...! I look back at my Nova times classified ad's from 20 years ago and the prices have always constantly gone up on all the Novas, no matter what model. They have always been a great investment but even more fun to hot rod and drive. Any Nova is sure better than any Geo Prism so don't let a 4 door slip by ya if it's a good price. They will never produce any more... Bob in Monsoon CT Philip Jul 2nd, 09, 06:56 PM If I could find a 4 door sport sedan Malibu in good I would sell the El Camino to get it. Sure would be more practical for us then the Elky with all of these grand kids. Big Dave Jul 2nd, 09, 07:33 PM Ya mean youall didn't take the front seat out the ole dead rambler that cuz'n Larry (the crazzy one up in the nut house) left under the pea can tree and throw in the back of bed up again the cab fer the young'uns to set in. Shucks just tie a rope acrost it if'n yer a feared any of 'em will fall out. Dig Dave (raised in the deeeeep south, were they don't believe in natural selection but practice it daily). Philip Jul 2nd, 09, 08:25 PM You jest but when my kids were young I had a Bronco rear seat, with seat belts, bolted into the back of my 74 GMC 4x4 and they rode back there. An aluminum shell kept them dry and in the shade and a sliding rear window was open if communication was necessary. Now I have a crew cab GMC and no kids, go figure :D CITIZENxZERO Jul 3rd, 09, 01:40 PM I'm selling my 4 doors in the forums classified section if anyone is interested. I have to sell them quickly because I am relocating my family and have no place to keep them. Just thought I'd mention it. On a side note, I don't care how many doors they have - the only part people are supposed to be seeing is the tail lights, right? rancidguy Jul 10th, 09, 07:22 AM I'm in agreeance with him I love my 4-door & can't wait to be done souping it up...when some little sports car pulls up & I smash on it cuz I have a raw american muscle car that will be the day LOL bullet Jul 10th, 09, 10:22 AM 4dr novas, clone for yellow taxi cabs or cop cars.. (besides just means more room for nawwwsss!) >:) SHIFTY4 Jul 17th, 09, 05:06 PM i recently sold my '66 Bel-Air, it was a 4 door... to me it looked like an undercover cop car. i had wanted to stuff a 427 BBC and a Muncie in it, lowered slightly, steelie wheels with dogdish caps, dark windows. i wanted spotlights in the "A" pillars too... it'd look just like a Narc car  if the old style cop cars didn't scream Hi-Perf at ya then i think ya'll need glasses  David_H Jul 17th, 09, 05:10 PM i recently sold my '66 Bel-Air, it was a 4 door... to me it looked like an undercover cop car. i had wanted to stuff a 427 BBC and a Muncie in it, lowered slightly, steelie wheels with dogdish caps, dark windows. i wanted spotlights in the "A" pillars too... it'd look just like a Narc car  if the old style cop cars didn't scream Hi-Perf at ya then i think ya'll need glasses  Who are you kidding? it would look like a old 66 Bel air, cops havn't used a 66 Bel air since the 60's:sad: 70NovaSmokeya Jul 17th, 09, 11:12 PM Bah. Johnny needs a 3rd gen then he can be johnny law ;) http://videos.streetfire.net/video/El-Monte-Police-Drag-Car_636335.htm SHIFTY4 Jul 17th, 09, 11:41 PM HA !!! that's somewhat my local track... i've been there a couple/few times ;) NIGHTSHADE Jul 20th, 09, 11:04 AM I hope that I'm building one of (THE) nicest 4door cars in the area or beyond. But I'll be the first to admit that I have turned many 4doors (and wagons) into scrap piles and parted them out. I don't believe 4doors are muscle and I surely don't believe in the "sleeper" thing unless it's a true ratrod. BTW, I did just put a 63SS under the blade as a parts car for my 4door!!!:hurray::hurray::hurray::cool::thumbsup: rancidguy Jul 29th, 09, 07:33 AM In my own defense, here is a quote from the muscle car wiki located @:http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Muscle_car "Muscle car is a term used to refer to a variety of high performance automobiles. According to a contemporary issue of Road Test magazine (June 1967), a "muscle car" is "Exactly what the name implies. It is a product of the American car industry adhering to the hot rodder's philosophy of taking a small car and putting a BIG engine in it. Opinions vary as to whether high-performance full-size cars, compacts, and pony cars qualify as muscle cars." There...it says opinions vary, so there is no definite definition ;) Big Dave Jul 29th, 09, 03:25 PM And if I can throw in some historical perspective, Muscle first appeared in the late fifties and early sixties with the Buick "Nail Head", the full sized Tin Indian powered by a 421, Ford's introduction of the FE 427 side oilier in the Galaxies. When the horsepower wars started there were no compact or mid sized cars (Chevelle didn't appear until 1964 same year as the six cylinder powered Mustang) to put the big V-8 engines into so they used full sized production sedans that all came in two or four doors (but the two door was considered an odd-ball car back then; with no resale value due to the difficulty of getting into and out of the back seat). If you wanted an economy car (small in size and light in weight) you looked at the Corvair (which everyone bought because it was sporty, not because it was cheap), or the Falcon. Neither of which would accept a Ford FE or a Pontiac 421. The Chevy II and Tempest were in the same situation Except the Pontiac Tempest used the Corvair transaxle with a front mounted four cylinder engine. The factory never thought of it, but a lot of hot rodders were dropping in 348-409 'W' motors into the early Chevy II and were cleaning up at the drags as the 409 was a high RPM low torque motor that didn't twist the body up in a ball as it left the line (mostly due to the limitation of the recapped slicks of the day).
