My air compressor can't handle the CFM requirements to run a DA sander. I found one within the CFM requirements of my compressor, but it is "random" sander. What exactly are the differences??...and could I use a random sander on my car? There is also an electrical orbital random sander that I was looking at as well. Could this be used for automotive applications?

Any pointers would be apprecated...thanks

DA= dual action (random or spin... has switch)

Random is just that.

Is it ok to use an orbital or random sander on the body of my car?

It pretty much depends on what youre doing. I dont see why you couldnt. Hell, Ive used a belt sander before (to cut filler down to a molded shape in a tight area) ;)
