just recently i replaced my oil pump and pickup screen prior to that the oil pressure was at 0 when stopping so i figured it was that but i cant get the dam thing to fire up...hadnt started it for about 3 weeks but wen i finally got it to crank and "somewhat" start and it made this horrible grinding sound :confused:

but now it doesnt make that noise anymore
either something REALLY bad happened or....well i don't know:(
im just really having a tough time getting her to start up...
any ideas?

that could be a number of problems, would start with the basics
dirty air/fuel filter,choke, worn/fouled plugs, cap-rotor-points if so equiped
wires,timing

grinding noise may have been the starter

sad to say it was the air filter :( started right up (at least for a bit)
or maybe not i took her around the block today
went to gas station filled her up came up on a stop signs
*sputter sputter* i noticed the oil pressure go down to about 5psi
and slowly stepped on the gas to make it home then died...
now she'll start for about 1 min the die right away i checked the lines
no clogs any ideas?

Hows the Exhause look? blue or black smoke?

Do you smell gas in the exhaust?

is this motor Emissions controlled?

Vaccume or electric choke?

when running is there a misfire?

well wen it first fired up there was a hint or bluish white smoke
it smells like it might be running a bit on the rich side
timing is good no miss firing at all i have to keep my foot on the gas for her to stay alive but even then it sputters then dies.

remove you air cleaner start it up then go check the choke and slowly throttle your gas from under the hood keeping your face away from the carb, this to see if you choke is opening first
