I am wondering what a '69 JH 396/375hp standard bore short block would be worth. It retains it's original pistons, 3/8 dimple rods and 6223 crank. It needs to be taken and checked out but if the block, crank and rods are good, what would be a "fair" asking price? It does have a Nova VIN on it.

Thanks, Kurt :beers:

Sorry Kurt a 396 has no value to me as the bore is too small to work with. I must have scraped about fifty of these motors to transplant in bigger 454 or 427 4.250 inch bore blocks when I was younger. I would imagine to the owner of the Nova that the VIN matches it would be worth a lot, especially if the tranny is still original to the car. Why not Post the number you might get lucky, and there was another member who was creating a database of all SS VINs in the hope of reuniting motors with cars.

Thanks for the information Dave. I just got the VIN from the guy who wants to sell it. It is 19W417291. It came from Northern Wisconsin.
