I have a small block in my 66 Nova and was wondering if anyone knows the correct hookup for the heater hoses. Does the the lower hose go to the intake and the upper to the water pump? Does it matter?

Doesn't really mater as the heater core is basically a square radiator. Whether the water enters the bottom and flows up or enters the top and flows down the same amount of heat will be transfered. The hoses are usually different sizes with the smaller size being the feed and the larger going to the manifold to drain back to the radiator.
