I have a 1968 MQ 396 with a "w" in the vin #. Is this a Nova engine, because I know the Chevelles are "k" and the Camaros are "n" and "L" . Feel free to enlighten me. Thanks guys!

The MQ code is for 67 - 68 Camaro and 68 Nova L78 manual trans cars. The W in the vin denotes the Willow Run, MI assembly plant where the original car was built. What are the rest of the vin numbers? I believe Nova and Camaro had different starting points for vin numbers.

To add to the conversation my '72 has an "L" in the vin. Would that be Los Angeles like the Camaros?

L is the Van Nuys CA plant.
