View Full Version : Prayers answered!
teddisnoke Feb 21st, 09, 03:12 AM Today, I was able to spend some seat time in the wagon, after having done the final tweaking on the Church Boys front suspension. Both Chuck, and his father flew out, after some initial issues with the installation cropped up, to help correct and clarify the install. I must say, the wait was worth it. The steering is both fast and responsive, and cornering, well lets just say that I've never been able to dive into a corner and still keep my foot into the throttle. The only weak link is those skinnies up front. Its time to roll into a wider front tire, one that'll keep the front end glue'd to the pavement. That, and the fact that the wagon has a bit of heft in the rear, makes it want to roll around. But, a rear sway-bar will help correct that! I'm starting to like the performance that this front suspension offers! :hurray:
Dale.

from talking to Dale the other night i guess it was the front end shop. they had the alignment so far out of whack to begin with then tried to align going backwards if ya get my meaning. from what i understand the Church's basically started from "A" and started over and now everything is fine.
Philip Feb 21st, 09, 12:53 PM Good to hear.
Now Dale put some real tires on the front of that wagon and show us a video of the handling.
teddisnoke Feb 21st, 09, 11:50 PM Thats the plan!! But first, here's my stab at humor:
Chuck Church passed out t-shirts before we all went out to dinner. My thoughts were he did this to try and get us all free meals. The resturant would think we were part of the Church Boys Choir, and we'd be asked to sing for our food. It did not materialze. Wade and Mike would not play along, and instead sabotaged the night by telling everyone it was my birthday in order to divert attention, while Chuck continued to try to get someone in the resturant, or at our table for that matter to at least sing some kind of song before they left for home. Of course, this is a tall tale..... well, not quite all of it....
I'm pumped about the upcoming slalom test, as the car is ready to carve. Still cannot believe my Uncle Johnny Rotten ran such a stiffy set of front shocks! We had strong man Mike Morgan try to compress them next to cousin Bryan Fargo's stocker front shocks, and Mike just about popped a hernia trying to push them puppies down. They'll be put in a section of the shop called "The Rotten Ones Section" where his broom, side pipes, and other odds and ends are kept!!!:D;):p
SHIFTY4 Feb 22nd, 09, 10:22 AM you must be talking Springs and not Shocks Dale... the shocks are a std replacement gas KYB but the springs were the "Drop" springs from CPP. if you don't like the front shocks you may wish to look at the rears too as they're the same brand etc ;)
David_H Feb 22nd, 09, 10:49 AM I am glad most of it worked out for you Dale, to bad you couldn't sing your way into a free meal though.:D:D
Philip Feb 22nd, 09, 04:48 PM "The Rotten Ones Section"
Are building a shrine to him? Ya know we will never hear the end of of the :bs: now
teddisnoke Feb 23rd, 09, 08:05 PM He's coming down to tomorrow, to christen it. I heard something about "lifting a leg up"- - - -:noway:

SHIFTY4 Feb 25th, 09, 10:06 PM you REALLY need to be careful going that fast in THAT car... might blow off some of the rust
teddisnoke Feb 26th, 09, 12:19 AM Come to think of it, we were going ALOT faster than the speedo says. Twenty seven inch tall rear tires, and 3.08 gears. Going so fast, we blew the glass off the rear view mirror!!!! Bonneville time. If only I could find the spoiler that Johnny found, then re-ditched!!!
SHIFTY4 Feb 26th, 09, 12:25 AM left back wall of the shop Dale... on top of the old A-Arms, steering box etc. sitting right on top ;)

I guess I didn't do a good job of losing it!:noway:...............I'll have to come back out and hide it again:D
SHIFTY4 Feb 27th, 09, 01:59 PM HA !!! my OCD kicked in when Dale said it had been hidden. Bill & i scoured the shop and then kinda gave up until it basically jumped up and bit me on the as... ok, you get the picture
67 church Feb 27th, 09, 09:40 PM ...............Bad visual!
I really did not hide it I just put it with the rest of the removed items from the install. Dale can put it back on once all the photos have been taken for the magazine. Of course if he trys to put it on he will find out that while he was having dinner and dad and I were at the shop double checking things I welded a couple of the holes up in it so that it would not be an easy mistake to put it back on right away:D:D:D
......................Naw just kidding!
