It's only happened a couple of times, but today I went to crank my baby up, and the starter hung and continued to spin the motor even though the key was off. Had to disconnect the battery cable to make it quit.
I replaced the starter 5 months ago, so I doubt it has an internal malfunction, but hey, strange things happen.
Other than the obvious "wiring short" answer, what can cause this?

not a joke, a friend of mine used to carry 4' of 3/4" sc40 PCV in the back of his T'oda pick up... everytime he'd have a starter issue (quite common) he'd pull out the PVC and smack/jab it at the starter a few times and wha-la... it'd start right up. :D
that guy sure was cheap, drove it like that for a few YEARS before he offed the truck... never did buy a new starter/solenoid
