Hey guys,

New to the site. First post! :hurray:

Anyway, I am a long time Chevelle owner, but I am thinking of branching out. I ran across a 1967 Nova rolling chassis.

Frame straight
Paint is faded but covers all panels, sheetmetal is all there
A few blister rust spots around the rear window and lower trunk panel
Trunk is rust free
Interior floor pans look original and rust free
Firewall has some dents and a few rust spots
Hood, doors, trunk, quarters, rockers, and lower fenders are rust free except drivers fender.
Has interior, but needs recovering
No drive train
Drum brakes, stock suspension
All glass present
Ran across it but did not have a camera
Asking $5k.

Looking for a car for the wife. Resto will be pretty much stock except for drivetrain. I want to put an LS2 with auto in it. Wife wamts good power, AC, PS, smooth idle, etc. It won't be a car show queen. More of a nice looking driver. Nice, not perfect.

Worth it?

all depends, can you do all the work yourself? if not, maybe this one woill be a better choice. Of course if i had the money i would buy it .

Looks better than that for the most part. Panels are straight with a few door dings. Dents in the bumpers. Moldings are gone. Weather stripping is there, but brittle.

I can do all the mechanicals. I'm a fair body man. I am currently learning to weld sheet metal. I don't expect much of that.

I've been wrenching on cars since I was 10 or so.

I've rebuilt engines in 3 Chevelles, 2 4x4s, a 92 BMW M5, and my daily driver - 1993 Formula.

I expect there will be some rust that will need to be repaired. Depending on my talent at that time after fixing mechanical things, I may do it myself. I will have to get someone paint the car. I can replace the interior as needed, but I also know a good inexpensive local upholstery shop

Welcome to the team Eric. That sounds like a fair price to me. May be a little high. But it depends on how bad you want it.

Randy,

I kinda felt that way, but I wanted to ask some experts. I'm dying for it. I can walk away, so I will see if I can get him down.

Thanks for the advice. I hope I can be a Nova owner too. I always liked the clean style of the Novas. :)

Something wasn't right about the car. I wanted to run a jack under it and take a look at the undercarrage. The guy started to act frustrated and started making excuses about needing to be somewhere soon.

I picked up my jack, put it in the truck, and drove away. I didn't even say a thing to him. He has called me 3 times so far, but I am done with it.

Thanks for the mini-education! :)
