Greetings!
I posted an ad on this site for my Nova (1974 Chevy Nova Custom), and I honestly have no idea what I should be asking for it. I am not trying to draw attention to my ad; I am also advertising it in Philly, where I live, which is probably where I am most likely to find a buyer.
If anyone here could give me a word of advice on what my car is worth in its present condition, I would truly appreciate it!!!
My Nova is not running, and a friend (not a real mechanic) told me that I probably need a new engine, because some blue goop is leaking into the oil. I surmise that this blue stuff is anti-freeze, so this must be a major problem.
When I was having my other vehicle inspected, I told the mechanic about my Nova problem, and he offered to put a new engine in the Nova for $2,500. It is the engine from a Dodge Ram truck. Is this good? Do you guys think I should have this done before offering it for sale? My father mentioned that someone into Novas might rather buy the car for a lower price and install another engine him/herself.
I don't know what to do. I am moving in the spring, and the car must go. It is a fine car, with zero "bondo", and just about everything mechanical is new (I have all receipts for parts and work done).
I thank you from the bottom of my heart for any advice offered. This was the first real car I ever owned, and I have been keeping it in my garage for 15 years. It has been off the road for a year, but when I used to drive it around, everyone who saw it used to either yell and scream about how cool it was, or try to race me!
Hell. Maybe I'll try to keep it. I'm moving to Southeast Asia, but my brother has a garage here where I could store it to drive around on visits!
Thank you, and I hope I didn't ramble on too much.

i'm not the greatest at putting a value on something that i have no interest in purchasing... i'd initially question if it needs a new engine or not reading both this thread and your ad... might be something a little more minor than needing a complete engine.

with that in mind, i'd say your price isn't out of line as you stated it's negotiable due to "possible" engine issues. the ad i linked above shows only three images... from looking at those the car looks nice but SEEING the car versus looking at a picture are two totally different things which i'm sure you understand.

your best bet is to have NO issues with the car of course...

good luck with the car and i wish you the best on your life's journey ;)

i agree with shifty. Figure out if it really needs a new problem or if it is an easy fix. Maybe we can help you (we being the guys that know more than me :D). Also i would love to as would a buyer love to see a picture under the hood, and of the interior, maybe even a trunk shot. As a person that does alot of peaking at online car adds i find a car alot more noteworthy if i get an idea of what the interior, engine bay, and trunk look like. Nice car though, sucks you have to sell it if it wasn't for 4k miles i might try to make you cut me a deal :D

Dear Shifty4, Sparky69 and Hendi,
Thank you so much for taking the time to offer your advice and comments! I am going to get another opinion on the engine, and as soon as the weather here clears a bit(we're having a horrible storm), I will take more pictures and post them. The Nova's crammed in my garage in front of a bunch of boxes, so I'll roll it out on a sunny day.
What cars do you guys have? Lots of people (mostly guys) rip around Philly in lame "riced-out" rides, and I must say this: There is nothing like the sound and the power of a pure American Muscle Car.
Thanks again!
