I have a 71 nova with 350/ 2barrel( matching numbers), 3 speed auto, factory black bucket seat and console, cold a/c(all new), p/s, p/disc brakes, new exhaust, tires, weather stripping, window fuzzies.Paint is a few years old but good from 20 feet. Runs and drives great. Just passed Texas inspection.
I'm thinking of selling it and starting on my 72 chevelle and do not want to overprice it, but do not want to give it away either.
Any idea of what it might be worth?

I am in Austin. As for the price, that's what I'm trying to determine. The only rust I see is the surface rust in the trunk. What do you think it's worth?

I sold my 71 SS for $13K about three years ago, was asking $15k but the guy had cash and cash speaks. Depending on any rust issues, if none I'd say $10k easily. I'd ask for $13k and see what happens. Might want to check on eBay and see what they're bringing.

Before I posted the car here, my thought was $10,500. Looks like I was about right from what you guys are saying. I guess next thing to do is to post on this site and see what happens. Thanks for the input.

I view value from the perspective of what it would cost to duplicate what you have and then work backwards from there. If this is a rust free, original sheetmetal car....decent paint job, good mechanicals, tires, etc...then $10,500 is a little light. You can't duplicate it for twice that....overall quality, fit and finish and "rust" issues will be the most important things to impact the price. Why not post some more detailed photos....

Wilma,
Considering there are 100's of diferrent pics I could take, would you or anybody else have any specific pics you would like to see?

OK....well for one thing, I can't tell what color the car is from the photos. I know it's dark...maybe brown or black, but it's hard to tell. Underhood shots would be helpful...well lit closeups of the interior, undercarriage and suspension. Try to think about what you would like to see if you were buying the car....and go from there. I like to see photos that highlight the fit and finish of a car...the attention to detail and the quality of the paint and trim. Is the car all original sheetmetal..???? any rust repairs..??? Some folks may want to see a pic of the cowl tag for reference....that should get you started. Hope this helps you....

The color on the car is maroon, original is antique green. As I mention in my original post the paint is old and looks nice from 20 ft. It has typical wear and tear from being driven, but shows no bubbling from any rust issues. Whoever painted the car did a nice job in the door jambs and trunk. As for original sheetmetal,

if i where you i would pull up the carpet to check the floor boards myself before i sold it as a practically zero rust car. Just me.
Also doing a little sanding and spraying down even just some black paint (or if you wanna stick stock get your hands on some of that origional spackled paint) in the trunk. When i bought my car it had the same thing just light surface rust on the floor boards (by the kick pannels where these cars love to leak) and in the trunk. I saw the potential alot of buyers might not. In my opinion that $30 or less you spend on sand paper and spray paint could make someone go from an interested person to a buyer. Also i argee, get it out more in the sun, wax it up, highlight it's features. My car is has a 20 ft paint job but with a nice coat of wax, man in pictures it shines like a $2,000 paint job. Just my advice :hurray:
