View Full Version : Hood MikeA May 23rd, 06, 08:20 PM Is a '73 Nova hood a direct interchange with '68-'72 hoods? Thanks Nova_Guy May 23rd, 06, 09:33 PM No the 73 and 74 hoods are the same. The later hoods wrap over more or less I don't remember. I am sure they will not directly interchange. SS 396 May 23rd, 06, 09:39 PM Nova Guy is Correct. They wrap over Less.Leaves a Wider gap at center of Hood to Grille. Joe SS 396 May 23rd, 06, 09:47 PM They will however Bolt on and Shut. YENKO DEUCE REGISTRY May 24th, 06, 10:22 AM Will the '73 hood line up with the fenders? I think the fenders are the same from '68-'74 - other than the marker light size/location. M SS 396 May 24th, 06, 01:51 PM YDR, Yes the Hood will Line up to the Fenders. The 73-74 Hood seem to be Higher at the Peak. The first time I seen it I thought the Hood had been Repaired.I have seen it now a Few times and have a Car here with the Problem. Joe YENKO DEUCE REGISTRY May 24th, 06, 02:30 PM So, the alignment at the edges with the fenders is the same, but the point where the bowtie would go is 'peaked'? Sort of like a bigger 'beak'? M SS 396 May 24th, 06, 06:57 PM Yenco, Yes that is it.I can take a Picture if you want. The Hood does not look to have been Repaired. Joe MikeA May 24th, 06, 07:19 PM Joe, Yes, please take a picture. Thanks for the help. Mike SS 396 May 24th, 06, 07:34 PM One more thing,I did not put the Hood on any of the Cars I seen,I wonder if it could have something to do with the Moulding Holes not letting the Moulding line up?Will post Pic. Joe SS 396 May 24th, 06, 07:37 PM http://www.novas.net/showroom/data/500/Image025.JPGHere is the Picture. http://http://www.novas.net/showroom/data/500/Image025.JPG SS 396 May 24th, 06, 07:41 PM This one has the Correct Hood. http://www.novas.net/showroom/data/500/Image026.JPG SS 396 May 24th, 06, 09:25 PM The White one has the 74 Hood. The Camera is not showing it well but the Gap is wider at the Center of the Hood then the ends. MikeA May 25th, 06, 08:24 AM Hmm....Thanks for posting the pictures. YENKO DEUCE REGISTRY May 25th, 06, 09:42 AM Hmmm, that is interesting. Logic would also suggest that the '73 grill has a more pronounced angle at the centerline as well? Just ram the hood into a wall Mike, that'll push it in a little! M SS 396 May 25th, 06, 11:08 AM Yenco, I think with work one could get the Hood to Line up,and maybe they are not all like that.If I had not seen more like this I would think there were something wrong with the Hood. SS 396 May 25th, 06, 11:29 AM I remembered before I bought this Car it had a 74 Hood on it,so here is a Picture. In this Picture the Gap looks wide but even.Looks to have the 74 Moulding? http://www.novas.net/showroom/data/500/be_3.jpg |
