I have a 6 cyl 69 nova and a guy is trying to get me to trade it for a 63 nova body. My car runs now and only needs some of the interior. The 63 has the gas cap area on the side filled in (relocated to the trunk) and no windows , motor , transmission , or interior. Also, it was used for drag racing and I'm thinking it may have warp issues. All opinions welcome.

Is this a trick question?

I wouldn't do it. If you are entertaining any kind of ideas of a big block you are much better off staying with the 69. The 69 has a better suspension. You can fit bigger tires without a lot of mods. It might be very hard to come up with all of the interior parts. As for the rearend, a 72-79 8.5 rearend is a bolt in and they are as good as a 12 bolt. I think this guy is just out fishing for a "sucker". He knows he basically has nothing and with yours he would get a complete car even though it needs some work.

Walk away.

IMHO, unless you REALLY, and I mean REALLY, want a '63 I would keep the '69. I think you would be getting the short end of this deal. :)

And if you wanted a '63 that baddly buy one wiith dollars and cents so you (and your insurance company) will know how much the value will be when it comes time to insure the car. You will probabl;y will want more for it than the blue book listing if it comes up missing one day.

Yes Dave, that is one way to look at it,and it would also answer the original question.

id keep the 3rd genner - a used abused shell & frame vs a near finished car... unless the frame, body is straight and its comin with the $$$ to drop a knarly drive train in and glass ect....

besides... Gen 3 has one of the coolest chase scenes around:

a 1969 nova driven by jason statham in the italian job. ;)

(sorry needed excuse to post best scene ever!!) :D

have you considered asking the guy to throw in a couple "K" to make it a more even deal? Im partial to 1st gen but i think that i will start a 3rd gen when i get my car done. :=) dont know if the guy is in a position to kick in some cash, but it certainly does not seem to be a fair swap...

NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO don't do it!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Keep your 3rd Gen!!!!!! In my humble oppinion 1st Gen's are pretty cool, 2nd Gen's are sweet, but 3rd Gen's truly represent the Muscle Car Nova's everyone remembers and is most familiar with. The SS350's and the mighty SS396's. 4th Gen's are OK. I'd keep my 3rd Gen. They just ROCK!!!

tell him to make it run drive and stop first. then it would be fair. even if you had to do a little finishing. 1st gens are the coolest imho
