I've been interested in this Nova for about 4 months. A dealer has it for sale and is asking $10k. It's now on ebay for more that local asking.

The right-up implies a very original V8 car but if my memory serves me it has a 6 cyl VIN.

I like the car but think he's a little high.........what's it worth?

I think some of the VINs on some V8 cars said they were I6

Very Nice, Very Very Nice , Very Very Nice, new car, new car, new cars, fun car, runs great, drives great.

To me, it looks damned good, but when i read the article, just too much stuff in it that he keeps refering too like those mentioned above. almost makes me wonder anyways.
There are a couple of keys here one as he mentioned in his ad

"if you have any specific questions don't be afraid to ask"

$12,500, the question is, is it worth it to you. Can you drive it before you buy it? How much is it going to cost to ship it if your not willing to drive it back home.

as with anything on EBAY, especially when your plopping down this kinda cash, it may not even run. Does the engine smoke, does the tranny even shift. Too many unknowns. I would hope it does though for that money.

Ask alot of questions, get the VIN. Make sure its an origional V-8. Ask the seller if he is willing to give back the deposit if you dont want it after showing up. if so, make sure he has it in writing.

i think in 1972 the "16" was replaced with letters

D = 250 1bbl L6
F = 307 2bbl V8
H = 350 2bbl V8
K = 350 4bbl V8

It's a local dealer so I've looked at it a few times and heard it run. The stuff that bothers me is both quarters are half paneled but rust is starting to show on drivers side rear wheel opening, no antenna for radio (I wonder why it was overlooked) and the paint seems to have more metallic than normal (might be hard to match if needed).

Idk I just read the ebay thing on it, it just seems like he's trying to convince possible buyers it's worth 12K

some of the cars back then had metalics in them. I had a dark green Nova from 71 that had a fair shimmer to it.

Pretty much now a days paints can be matched. does the car have a radio atenna in the windshield?

the fifth digit will tell you what engine origionally came in it. as i said in my previous post, his wording makes me suspicious. caution to the wise.

66k origional miles. how is this documented, it may have turned over 1 or more times.

In Virginia if the car has remained in the state its whole life, its pretty easy to document the origional miles, because they will actually put "exceeds 100,000" miles on the title. everytime a car is sold, they want the odometer reading. so its fairly easy to document, unless you the origional owner and have rolled it over than lie to DMV

if the quarters have been replaced and its rusting. to me, be cautious. if the entire car is the same color, it may not even be a factory color.

the car would have to have a lot of "specials" on it for me to lay out that amount of cash for "rust"... even if it's only a little. rust is like an ice berg... only so much is generally visible above the surface.

sorry, nice looking car... but not worth the cash.

There is no antenna in the windshield. The rust I mentioned on drivers wheel opening is very small but a concern. Yes, the entire car is the same color. He's a dealer that primarily sells utility/livestock/car trailers but also some used Harleys and a few collector cars. The cars he sells are almost always from out the area.

Any guesses on a realistic value.......

well... i'm thinking that $12.5 is probably going to be close to his bottom line as he probably got it to turn it, right ? so he's hoping to make a few bucks... it looks like it's had some work done on it and i'd say it's "Not" original... the trunk looks way too clean and the mat looks new. the engine is obviously too clean, no aluminum intake for that car in that form (non-SS etc) so it's not stock, the exhaust manifolds are silver(?) when have we seen that on an original 66K mile car... so i'd say there's been some work on it to spruce it up.

OK, i'll take back my "Not worth the cash" comment if the rust is so minimal to have it not bother you as you've seen the car. but what will it cost you to take care of the rust and patch the paint ?

that's what i'd toss out to the dealer.

it might very well be worth that 12.5 BUT i'd do my best to knock it down the costs of repairing body & paint.

kinda wishy washy, huh ??? sorry... it's the best i can do for ya ;)

it does look nice though ;)

If she was buckets and console then the price may be around right.

to answer the antenna ? it might be in the windshield that's where mine is it's a 72 and what shifty said for 12.5 that car should have no rust, if your looking for something simple this car looks like a clean no frills car to just drive and not have any worries, but i think if you look around you could do better. my 2cents

The antenna is not in the windshield.

I'll probably make an offer later but being a 20 day auction takes the hurry out. Maybe I'll find something else while I'm waiting or somebody will hit the Buy it Now button.......... :boring:
