I do not know if they are the same but I can post a photo in a couple of days. I am not feeling well enough right now to do it. gpbeau Oct 6th, 08, 11:53 PM Thanks for the reply. Sorry to hear you're not feeling well. I think the canisters are different for the 4th gen cars. Would appreciate a picture, though, to verify. Garrett Gloryhound Oct 7th, 08, 08:57 AM Is this the one that is filled with char coal or is this another one? Could you post a link to the site that sells just the canister so I can look at it and see if I have it for you in one of the boxes on my shelves? Philip Oct 7th, 08, 10:38 AM The cannister is used across the GM lines on many cars without significant changes, after all its function is the same in a Chevette or an L88 Corvette. Mounting is different and the funnel part IIRC was added to cars where the bottom filter was exposed directly to the elements. In the photo is the canister from my 77, the bracket is formed to fit the core support and 2 of the holes also are used to mount the grill support on the drivers side. The funnel in the photo is from a 72 El Camino. It will snap onto the bottom of the standard cannister. http://i80.photobucket.com/albums/j199/64elcamino/parts/charcoalcannister.jpg Gloryhound Oct 7th, 08, 01:27 PM Dang. Thats the charcoal canister. I just threw out the whole set up out of a 74 Nova during my move. I didn't have any need for it since my fuel delivery and emmisions set up is going to be all 69 Nova parts. You wouldn't believe half of the parts I hauled to the scrap yard due to a reduction in storage room. Philip Oct 7th, 08, 03:42 PM Everytime I throw something away a need arises. Also it seems everytime I give away apart I think I do not need, then I find out I do. It must be the Murphy Law of spare parts. Oh and every time I can not find a part I need but know I have, it will not turn up until a new one is purchased :) PDQ 71 Oct 8th, 08, 12:23 AM And here I thought I was the only one that happened to...........:noway: |
