xcjmpx Oct 1st, 08, 09:36 PM http://sfbay.craigslist.org/eby/cto/860584140.html
think the price is too high, too low?
thinking about checking it out but i wanna know the true value
SHIFTY4 Oct 1st, 08, 09:44 PM i think it's too much for a 4 door, yeah...
brian oneil Oct 1st, 08, 09:46 PM My opinion, I think it is too high. then again, I am predjudice (however you spell it) for 2 door cars.
Here is the real question you should be asking yourself..."Is it worth it to me?"
You are the one that has to be happy with it. If this is what you want and are willing to shell out the money for it, then it may be worth it to you. As with anything on EBAY ask a lot of questions. evaluate the answers you get back with the knowledge that you have and make your decision.
If this isnt what you really want, be patient, there will be others, i promise:yes::yes:
SHIFTY4 Oct 1st, 08, 09:48 PM i think it's too much for a 4 door, yeah...
"True Value" that can't really be known without a thorough inspection... pretty paint and carpeting can hide a lot... for a while.
hard to say it's worth, but $4500.00 ??? i'd shop around.
brian oneil Oct 1st, 08, 09:51 PM I'd take that advice from Shifty4. I drove 150NM each way or so to tow my Nova shell back home. I shopped around and didnt jump at the first million Novas I saw, even though i wanted too :yes:
That old addage "good things comes to those that wait"
xcjmpx Oct 1st, 08, 10:48 PM so what you think is a fair price for it?
SHIFTY4 Oct 1st, 08, 10:50 PM $1200 tops (but i still wouldn't offer it)
look in the classifieds, e bay etc... for $4500 you could get a 2 door 1st, 2nd or 3rd genner.
Chevyboy454 Oct 1st, 08, 10:52 PM Looks to me like the guy just scratched and shot the car. Bet you he didn't even take the time to do inside the doors and stuff. So my question is this. Why did he paint it? Why are the pics so dark? Something to hide perhaps???? I'll give him $899.76 and not a penny more for that moredoor. Like my esteemed associate Mr Rotton said " pretty paint and carpeting can hide a lot... for a while. "
But ultamatly it's up to you.....
My $.02
Choose wisely my son, Chevyboy454.
David_H Oct 1st, 08, 11:12 PM I see a wavy body on that car to much for a 4 door even if it was perfect its to much $$$ in my opinion
miss matched wheels a big dent under the trunk non painted interior:sad: in my opinion this is a hack paint job and is probly hiding a ton of issues.
so in my opinion its not worth much 500.00 for a parts car maybe.
xcjmpx Oct 2nd, 08, 12:23 AM okay the guy showed me pics of the car before the paintjob.. it was completely fine no rust to body..
now what would you say about the honest price

are ya askin' someone ta talk ya into it... or out of it ??? so far it seems everyone says it's not worth it... if the owner thinks its worth 45 and you come in and offer him 12... that'd kinda be an insult... maybe ???
if you don't think it's worth 4500. and think he might come down a little then make him an offer.
i'd be very hard pressed to offer the 12.
what's a 350/350 go for ??? i really see nothing in the car that makes it special... well maybe the shifter and that noise maker which i could do without... no... not something i'd even negotiate on.
HotRod74 Oct 2nd, 08, 01:38 AM I payed 5000$ for my 74 kind of an impulse buy but mine is a 2 door
xcjmpx Oct 2nd, 08, 02:44 AM yah thats why i really like the car but if you guys still say 12 theres no way id want to ask him. if the real value is only 12 im just gonna move on im just wonderin the price then im going to deicde from there to offer or pass or whatever....
brian oneil Oct 2nd, 08, 07:26 AM You want a honest opinion. You will dumb to pay $4500 for that car. I want you to take a good look at the pictures. Left rear quarter panel, can you say crunch. Ornamental plate between the tail lights, nice large dent. On a side view look at the spacing between the door jams, its a light color, so the door jambs probably dont match the rest of the paint. ! month warranty on the paint job, can you say earl schibe paint job. So it is probably loaded in dust contaminents. Wires hanging down from under the dashboard. What do they go to, and what doesent work. Look at the tread on the tires, you will need to replace them immediately.
My opinion, that individual is looking for a sap to buy his worhless piece of junk he paid someone $300 to paint.
Now, after reading what I wrote and those who posted beofre me. I think you already know the right answer. Look for something else.
73nova Oct 2nd, 08, 09:26 AM I paid $500 for my 2 door 73, with a running and driving 6cyland very little rust. My 74 2 door that i just sold i bought for 2500 with a 400 sbc and th350, good paint, no rust. I dont think that car is worth more then whatever the motor and trans are worth.

Ding Ding Ding we have a winner! That car is just not worth the money things always look better in pictures so I can only guess what those dents look like in person.
there is a lot of better cars out there for $4500 just keep looking:yes:
Gloryhound Oct 2nd, 08, 03:42 PM I look at what he waisted paint on after reading the add, then my mind floats back to the rebuilt engine and I wonder what he classifies as a rebuilt engine. Spraying the engine down with engine cleaner and hosing off, then bolting a pair of chrome valve covers on it sounds about like this guys idea of an engine rebuild! I think this situation calls for a quote by someone I just can't remember who "You can put lipstick on a Pig, but its still a Pig!"

SHIFTY4 Oct 2nd, 08, 03:58 PM i've owned a couple hundred cars in my time, first i count my money, then decide on what i want and then look/shop for the best i can find... if you have "X" amount of money saved then don't just jump on the first one you see... be patient and look around. as i said in my first post (i think) for 4500.00 you can get a great deal on a 1st, 2nd or 3rd genner that'd be a 2 door which would have a higher resale value than that 4 door yer lookin' at...
bee patient and shop around ;)
70NovaSmokeya Oct 2nd, 08, 05:19 PM for 2 g's more this ones complete straight and a more desired 2 door with a 409 in it..

these guys are a reclamation joint here in washington.. 72' 4 door about 3,000+ less with motor or tranny work... if I didnt have 2 projects now id have probably looked at this one myself by now... http://www.binfordmetals.com/autosales.html the nova is in the builders section, half way down.
value is always in the eye of the beholder... but for 4500 you could get alot better for the $$$
hotrodnova Oct 2nd, 08, 10:41 PM that car isnt a 73.that is a 68-72 w/a 73 front clip.
Philip Oct 2nd, 08, 10:53 PM I wouldn't pay 500 for it. To much bad just in the limited photos posted. Now I would tow it away if it was free and hope I could recoup gas by selling any (if there are any) good parts.
And it appears to be a 70-72, with a 73 front clip, probably all the good parts were stripped off for another project.
PDQ 71 Oct 2nd, 08, 11:44 PM A 4 door??? Ok I'm prejudiced too, I don't do 4 doors, but to each his own. The paint doesn't look that great to me and is that Stripe TAPED on there?????? Sure looks like it. :noway: :noway:
brentphatrat68 Oct 3rd, 08, 01:27 AM to me that car is $500.00 looks like junk.
Nova Bob Oct 3rd, 08, 08:01 AM I say "MOVE ON" and count your blessings you did. It definately looks like a Bar Hopper Car from N.J. Also: Check the trunk for bodies...!
Bob.... A former New Yorker that made it out....!!
Philip Oct 3rd, 08, 11:11 PM I have nothing against 4 doors, my opinion was based entirely on the condition of the car as seen in the photos.
If I could find a clean 4 door Nova or Chevelle I would buy it to use for Mary's daily driver. Having more doors makes it more practical. I paid a lot of extra $$$$ to get a 4 door truck :)
klean63 Oct 4th, 08, 11:05 AM "True Value" that can't really be known without a thorough inspection... pretty paint and carpeting can hide a lot... for a while.
For a while, can be about 2 months on a bad quarter panel repair or up to 6 years on a bad door dent repair:(:(
Ask me how I know:sad::sad:
